Dear steward,
Happy (Belated) Mother’s Day to all the moms out there!
It was my own mother who first taught me the value of time management—and more importantly, how it plays a crucial role in living a faithful Christian life. That’s a lesson I’ll always be grateful for, and one I’m now striving to pass on to my own children.
As I near a decade of writing about the intersection of personal productivity and Christian living, I’ve only grown more convinced: time management is essential to our maturity as believers.
Just think about it—when we fail to steward our time well, we often:
- Struggle to stay consistent in prayer and Bible reading
- Neglect our responsibilities
- Miss opportunities to love our neighbors
Time is the currency of faithfulness. Every act of stewardship takes place in time. And as we grow in time management, we often find other disciplines begin to follow suit.
- Want to exercise more? You’ll need to block out time for it.
- Want to write a book? You have to make time to write.
- Want to develop a vocational skill? That takes time for training.
All the God-glorifying growth you long for—in every area of life—is on the other side of intentionally making time for what matters most. Time management is both a skill and a discipline. And, by God’s grace, it’s something we all can grow in. That’s one of the things we aim to help you do here at Redeeming Productivity.
In that spirit—and in honor of Mother’s Day—I’m excited to share a resource made especially for moms: Mystie Winckler’s 3×3 Daily Card Method. It’s a beautifully simple system to help moms stay productive and sane.
It normally sells for $18, but Mystie is generously offering it free to Redeeming Productivity readers through this link only!

Weekly Word
“Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”
– 1 Peter 5:8
Stay alert against distractions the enemy would use to pull you away from the work God has entrusted to you. Don’t bury the talent of time you’ve been entrusted with, invest it for the glory of God.
Worth Your Time
- Make Something Heavy (8 mins) If you do any kind of creative work, you’re gonna find yourself tempted to highlight nearly every sentence in this one (at least that’s what I did). Anu Atluru, argues that most creators want to make something valuable and substantial—heavy. But the modern internet is a machine for creating light things—ephemeral, cheap, quick. It takes an act of will to resist the pull to lightness and actually go and make something heavy. (Content note: the author abbreviates a curse word in the third section.)
- Tyranny of the Urgent (16 mins) I recently re-read Charles E. Hummel’s classic tract on priorities and time management for Christians. I still remember where I was when I first read this as a young man after my mom gave it to me; it had a profound impact on me. If you’ve never read it before, you’re in for a treat.
- Time Management Tips & Encouragement for Christian Homemakers (19 mins) Marci shares several encouragements from the Scriptures and practical tips for how Christian homemakers can be more faithful with the moments of the day.
Words of Wisdom
“Teachers will tell you that the laziest boy in the class is the one who works hardest in the end. They mean this. If you give two boys, say, a proposition in geometry to do, the one who is prepared to take trouble will try to understand it. The lazy boy will try to learn it by heart because, for the moment, that needs less effort. But six months later, when they are preparing for an exam, that lazy boy is doing hours and hours of miserable drudgery over things the other boy understands, and positively enjoys, in a few minutes. Laziness means more work in the long run.”
