Questions for Evaluating Your Year

Start listening

“give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”– 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Hello stewards,

As we draw closer to the end of another year, I pray you’re meeting your goals and putting Jesus Christ first in everything.

2021 is nearly over and the close of a year is a natural occasion to evaluate where you’re at and where you’re going. Those of us in the United States will pause next week to reflect on all that we have to be thankful for (then promptly glut ourselves on food and shopping).

But this is a good time of year to ask yourself some questions:

  1. How is my relationship with the Lord?
  2. What do I hope to accomplish in 2022?
  3. Who will help me and keep me accountable to stay faithful in the new year?

Even just taking 30 minutes with a journal to write out your answers to those questions can lead to a really beneficial time of self-reflection and prayer.

Alright, let’s mosey on into this week’s Roundup 🤠👇

Redeeming Productivity

I took a break from the blog and podcast this week because I’ve been busy cooking up some big stuff for you guys. Stay tuned for some exciting announcements next week!

🧑‍💻The Roundup

Keep a Notebook for the Glory of God (2 mins)

“First, we get to build a library of wisdom from the sermons we hear, the time we spend in God’s Word, and the insights we gain as we meditate on God’s truth. Keeping a notebook like this forces us to slow down and distill what we learn. Done well, it makes our learning accessible for later. I wish I had access to notes I’d taken decades ago from books I read or sermons I read.”

Shawn Blanc’s Writing Process: From Idea to Published (4 mins)

Writing will always seem daunting unless you have a repeatable system. I enjoyed reading about how the founder of The Sweet Setup organizes his writing process.

“I no longer have this ambiguous endeavor of “writing,” whatever that means. Instead, I have these three distinct activities of capturing and coming up with ideas, turning those ideas into rough drafts, and then editing those rough drafts into polished pieces that are ready to be published.”

Impatience Is a War for Control: How God Prepares Us to Wait (6 mins)

At times I find that what I tell myself is a desire to be more efficient is really just an expression of my impatience. This article was a good heart check.

“So where does impatience come from? At bottom, impatience grows out of our unwillingness to trust and submit to God’s timing for our lives.”

(Marshall Segal / Desiring God)

How to hit the top on each social media platform (2 mins)

This is a fascinating piece on the state of social media popularity and communities across various platforms.

“What differentiates social platforms is no longer their features, but their values and communities. What makes one person popular on one platform may not make them remotely interesting or influential on another.”

(Neal Rothschild, Sara Fischer / Axios)

🎉 Redeeming Productivity Academy Launch

Okay, I couldn’t wait to tell you about this one…

I’m very pleased to announce that we will be officially launching Redeeming Productivity Academy on December 1st! 🎉

For the past 3 months, myself and 50 other members have gone through a variety of productivity trainings, supporting one another in weekly accountability threads, habit challenges, an awesome book club, and more.

We’ve laughed, we’ve cried, and we’ve refined this community into something I can honestly say is truly life-transforming.

Here’s what some of our founding members have had to say about RPA:

“Through RPA I have been given new perspective regarding stewardship. While the content of the course is extremely practical, an added benefit of the RPA is being part of a community of like-minded people – I continue to be so encouraged! Live calls with the group are phenomenal, workshops and the Book Club have been amazing as well!”

– Andrea B.

“RPA is now my go-to for encouragement and guidance as I seek to be “to praise of His glory” in my day to day life. I am learning so much as I engage with this community of believers as seek I to use my time wisely. I cannot be more grateful to the Lord for providing me this amazing resource.”

– Pat G.

If you’re a Christian who loves productivity and time management or are just looking for a place that will actually help you to grow as a God-glorifying steward, you’ve found your tribe!

Go here to learn more about Redeeming Productivity Academy and sign-up to be notified the moment registration opens.
